Senior Director, Information Technology
With degrees in computer science and business from Taylor University and Anderson University, Joel began his career supporting quality control (QC) labs with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and later laboratory execution systems (LES) for Eli Lilly and Company. He transitioned from lab work into more manufacturing systems which led him into learning more about the process and operations within a plant. Joel later expanded into finance and supply chain activities with a move to support M&A activities.
After working at multiple manufacturing plants, Joel joined the largest greenfield manufacturing facility by Baxalta/Shire in Covington Georgia. Here he led the MES (manufacturing execution systems) and eventually all of IT activities. Joel moved to Massachusetts in 2016 where he joined Millipore as the head of software and automation. There, Joel grew a team of 10 people to nearly 200 while leading the digital transformation of Bioprocessing within the company. He was recently awarded the CIO “Ones to Watch” award for 2019.
Always passionate about new technologies and innovation, Joel frequently can be found speaking at various industry events in the Pharma/Biotech space. He believes strongly in the impact of digital technologies and new ways of working (Industry 4.0 and lean leadership). He is quite excited on how these can become a core element of the future of ElevateBio and happy to be a part of it!
